This
Will, This Man
Hebrews 10:5-7
Animal Sacrifices Insufficient
1
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the
very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they
offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the
worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins
every year. 4 For it is not possible that the
blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
Christ’s Death Fulfills God’s Will
5 Therefore, when He came into the
world, He said:
“
Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
6 In burnt
offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
7 Then I said,
‘Behold, I have come—
In the volume of the book it is written of
Me—
To do
Your will, O God.’”
“God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their
trespasses to them” 2
Corinthians 5:19
THE SAVING WILL OF GOD! THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT ARE IN THE
SAVING BUSINESS TOGETHER!
IT’S THE WILL OF GOD TO SAVE US FROM OUR
SINS! TO RESCUE US FROM THE DEATH
SENTENCE OF SIN! TO SNATCH US FROM THE
FIRE OF SIN! IT’S THE WILL OF GOD TO
SAVE US FROM THE POWER OF SIN!
“For this is the
will of God, your sanctification: that you
should abstain from sexual immorality.”
1 Thessalonians 4:3
8 Previously
saying, “Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings
for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them” (which
are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will,
O God.” He
takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10
By that will we have been sanctified
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
THANK YOU, LORD JESUS, THAT YOU HAVE COME TO
DO YOUR FATHER’S WILL, AND TO SAVE US!
THANK YOU, LORD JESUS, THAT YOUR OFFERING OF YOURSELF MAKES IT POSSIBLE
FOR US TO EXPERIENCE A NEW LIFE! A
SANCTIFIED LIFE!
Christ’s Death Perfects the Sanctified
11 And every priest stands
ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never
take away sins. 12 But
this Man, after He had offered one
sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His
footstool.
AT THE SECOND COMING, JESUS CHRIST MAKES ALL
HIS ENEMIES HIS FOOTSTOOL. HIS ENEMY IS
ANY PERSON, ANY SYSTEM, ANY POWER THAT HAS NOT SURRENDERED VOLUNTARILY THEIR
SINS TO HIM, AND BEEN CLEANSED.
THIS MAN!
THIS MAN! THIS Jesus HAS TAKEN UPON HIMSELF A BODY, AND HAS CARRIED ALL OF
OUR SINS UPON HIMSELF.
THIS JESUS HAS SUFFERED IN OUR PLACE ON THE
CROSS. A FOREVER SACRIFICE, WITH ETERNAL
RESULTS. RESULTS OF LIFE FOR US!
14 “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being
sanctified.”
CURRENT STANDING OF PERFECTION/COMPLETION IN
CHRIST!
OUR SALVATION IS AN ACCOMPLISHED ACT OF
JESUS CHRIST!
WE ARE SEEN AS HOLY IN THE FATHER’S SIGHT,
BECAUSE OF JESUS’ OFFERING OF HIS BODY, FOR OUR SINS.
NOTICE THAT THIS IS THE CASE WHILE GOD IS TRANSFORMING US, SANCTIFYING US: “For by one offering He has perfected
forever those who are being sanctified.”
IN OTHER WORDS, GOD SEES US AS PERFECT WHILE
HE IS MAKING US PERFECT.
15 But the Holy Spirit also
witnesses to us; for after He had said before,
16 “This is the covenant that I will
make with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their
minds I will write them,” 17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no
more.” 18 Now where there is remission of
these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
NOTICE THAT GOD DOES NOT REMEMBER THE SINS
OF THE PEOPLE IN WHOSE HEART IS THE LAW OF GOD.
HE ONLY RECOGNIZES THE PEOPLE WHO ARE COOPERATING WITH HIS SANCTIFYING
PROCESS.
IN OTHER WORDS, GOD’S CHILDREN ARE THE ONES
WHO ARE ALLOWING THEIR LIVES TO BE MOLDED AND CHANGED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
WHEN WE PERMIT GOD TO POINT OUT THINGS IN
OUR LIVES THAT NEED TO BE GIVEN UP, AND WE GO AHEAD AND GIVE THEM UP TO GOD, HE
DOESN’T REMEMBER OUR SINS.
THIS HAS TO DO WITH TRUE CONVERSION. EITHER WE HAVE BEEN BORN AGAIN, OR WE
HAVEN’T. EITHER WE ARE FULLY SURRENDERED
TO JESUS CHRIST, OR WE ARE NOT. EITHER
WE HAVE FORSAKEN OUR SINS, AND ENTERED INTO LIFE, OR WE ARE STILL CONTROLLED BY
OUR SINS, AND WE ARE DESTINED FOR HELL.
Hold Fast Your Confession
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High
Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and
our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast
the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is
faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is
the manner of some, but exhorting one
another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
AND SO TODAY WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO COME BEFORE
OUR GOD, AND TO GIVE HIM ANYTHING IN OUR LIVES THAT IS HINDERING US, KEEPING
US, FROM OBEYING HIM FULLY, AND LIVING FOR HIM.
THIS IS A HEALING TIME THIS MORNING.
YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SMALL SHEET OF PAPER. ON THAT PAPER, WRITE A SYMBOL OR A LETTER OR
MAYBE EVEN NOTHING AT ALL. GOD KNOWS
WHAT YOU’RE THINKING.
THAT PAPER REPRESENTS SOMETHING IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU
ARE COMMITTING TO GOD, SURRENDING TO GOD.
SOMETHING IN YOUR LIFE THAT IS A HINDRANCE. SOMETHING THAT IS DRAGGING YOU DOWN. WRITE IT ON THAT PAPER JUST NOW.
ANYTHING THAT IS STANDING IN THE WAY BETWEEN YOU AND
YOUR GOD. WRITE IT DOWN. FOLD YOUR PAPER SEVERAL TIMES, AND COME AND
PLACE IT IN THIS PRAYER BOX.
NO ONE WILL SEE YOUR PAPER. NO ONE WILL READ IT. YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO WRITE ANY WORDS ON
IT. MAYBE JUST A LETTER OR A SYMBOL OR A
DOT. OR BLANK!
PLACE IT IN THIS BOX AS AN OFFERING TO GOD FOR WHAT HE
IS ABOUT TO DO IN YOUR LIFE! WHEN WE
GIVE AN AREA OF OUR LIFE TO HIM, HE CLEANSES IT! HE CHANGES IT!
A SURRENDERED LIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE.
MAYBE IT’S A RELATIONSHIP THAT YOU KNOW IS NOT
RIGHT. WRITE DOWN A SYMBOL OR LETTER
THAT REPRESENTS THAT RELATIOSHIP, THAT HABIT, THAT CRUTCH, THAT SIN. PUT IT IN THIS BOX. GIVE IT TO JESUS.
COMMUNION TIME IS A HEALING TIME. AMEN?
GIVE IT TO JESUS, AND LET HIM FILL YOU WITH HIS
FULLNESS, HIS POWER, HIS PRESENCE.
AND STAY UP HERE WHEN YOU PLACE YOUR PAPER IN THE
BOX. WE WILL HAVE A PRAYER OF COMMITAL,
BEFORE WE SEPARATE FOR THE ORDINANCE OF HUMILITY.
